Trigem Anaheim-3 End User's Upgrades

This section is dedicated to YOU, the ones who use these eMachines day in and day out, who go and find the latest drivers, look for the latest upgrades, who try to make their machine perform at its best. The following posts are comments, from end users, on what you have found out that has worked for you. Since these posts are end user contributions, use the info contained here at your own risk.

Max Memory @ 256Mb on T1110 or is it?

I recently purchased an eMachine T1110 w/256Mb RAM and XP pre-installed.

Upgrade #1:

I successfully added a second hard drive.

Upgrade #2:

The machine came with a single, 256Mb stick of RAM. I attempted to add a second 256Mb stick. Upon reboot, I got a stop error related to ACPI ((0x000000A5). I tried swapping the sticks and got the same blue screen. I put in only the new stick and it booted up fine. At this point I poked around the SETUP screens and briefly considered the BIOS updating option recommended on the blue screen, but quickly decided not to risk it at this point. After some discussion with others, I tried one more experiment: in case the sticks were somehow conflicting with each other, I purchased a second, identical 256Mb stick from the same place. I put in the two identical 256Mb sticks and still got the same stop error. This is where the human machine did a "stop". Maybe others with more experience and nerve will find a simple solution to this, but I decided to shelve it for now.

Addendum 12/20:

Well, my obsessive nature paid off -[added an additional 128Mb stick to the already existing 256Mb stick] it worked immediately!  I now have 384 Mb in my T1110 (anaheim-3). Unfortunately, the conclusion can either be: 1) 384 is OK but 512 is too much, or 2) The brand of memory made the difference.  Although both this and the previous (failing) memory were nominally the same (133), there may have been some tolerance difference that made the previous memory fail - this would be my guess.
So it looks like the limit may indeed be 512Mb, like other's have discovered with other eMachine models. But, what do I know? I'm at least happier now.

CPU Upgrade 667Mhz to 1.1Ghz

05.05.02

Have eTower 667ir. Bought a new OEM Celeron 1.1GHz 1st of April. Kept an eye on price watch and got proc. for $70 incl. shipping. Did add another cooling fan to case just to be safe, but install went smooth & mobo recognized new processor w/ no hitches. Been running continuously since then with no problems!

CPU Upgrade 766Celery to Pentium III 850!

09.22.02

I bought an emachines etower 766id. It came with a 766MHz Celeron and two sticks of 64MBx100MHz RAM. It has the Anaheim-3 motherboard, I believe. To the best of my knowledge, the Celeron was running the FSB at 66 MHz. I replaced the Celeron 766 with a Pentium III 850, which could run the RAM up to its rated 100MHz. Dropped the CPU in place, reconnected the power, pressed start and watched it boot. Successful POST and it's been running happily for several hours.

FYI- 384MB RAM on Anaheim-3, etower 700

128+256=384. Works like a champ!
Next, 1.1GHz Celeron!

Powerleap PL-370/T 1400C on the Anaheim-3

05.05.03

Just take the old CPU out and install the Powerleap, attach the power lead and HSF and turn it on. Couldn't be any easier. I can report that no BIOS update is required for Rev C Mat NO. 113730.

KILLER Upgrades!!!

02.02.07

I had to get ready for Vista (Such a dork I am) and from my beta testing for Compusa, Vista did not run so hot on a P3.. So this meant I need to build a new system, but I did not want to stray away from my beloved etower 700/Verna case style. So, looking at the modded eMachine cases it got me fueled up to take a stab at it.. Well, hard work pays off and now I got new computer, but this time the same cool design I got with my first PC in 2k. Check it out:

As for the mild specs:
MSI PM8M3-V motherboard
Intel P4 @ 3.2Ghz
2x 1GB Centon DDR ram
2x Western Digital Raptor x hard drives
Geforce 6200 AGP
Sony 18x DVD+-/RAM burner, Samsung CD-rom
OS: Vista Ultimate 64 bit and Windows 98se (Fully hardware Compadible)
MCE 500 Hagpue all in one tv tunner

133MHz FSB Anaheim III Upgrade

05.13.09

Well.... After all these years I finally taken a stab at upgrading my faithful Anaheim III motherboard to a Pentium III 1.4Ghz CPU and was a great sucess! All you need is a Anaheim 3 with a Intel 810E chipset which accepts bus speeds up to 133Mhz. I've tried in the past with regular common 810 Anaheim 3 motherboards with a converted FC-PGA Pentium III-s and got nothing but a black screen since those can only got up to 100FSB, unless if you want to do soldering hacks.

There are only two eMachines I know of that feature the rare breed of a Anaheim 3 with the intel 810E 133FSB and it's the eMonster 1000(B) or a T3100. I gotten a T3100 motherboard for my etower 700 and lucky since it has a latter bios versions.

I'm glad to finally see the Anaheim 3 with a screamer fast P3 at 1.4Ghz and surely could push a few Mhz out of it by increasing the FSB. The performance is amazing and launching applications were instant. Boot time from turn on to loaded desktop was 25 secons and so quick the splash screen did not even show up.
