BIOS Flash Instructions These instructions are for file floc150.exe only. I know these instruction works with the floc150.exe file, but cannot guarantee them with any other file. 1) Make sure you can boot from the floppy drive from startup. (Do NOT attempt to flash from a windows DOS prompt!) 2) Download the file (floc150.exe) to any temporary directory on your hard drive. 3) Making sure you have a "know good" floppy in the drive. When you double click on the file, a window with garbled characters will appear...don't worry, this is normal. Click on the only highlighted button and it will begin to write to the floppy. 4) Get to a command prompt (I like to use a boot disk to do this, see below) and type in "amifauto" without the quotes. DO NOT FLASH FROM A WINDOWS DOS PROMPT!!! 5) It will ask you if you want to save the old BIOS...type in Y then it will ask to give it a file name...type in something like "oldbios" w/o the quotes. 6) When you do step 5 it will write the old BIOS file to the floppy. If you have access to another computer, now would be a good time to make sure that it actually made a backup file of the old BIOS. 7) You should be looking a screen that says, "press any key to continue"...do it and enter the new file name "florida.rom" without the quotes and hit enter. There is no turning back after you hit enter. It will flash the new BIOS and then re-start by itself and you will see a new start up screen with some Korean language on it...don't worry, this is normal. Then you will get to a screen and ask you if you want to run setup or load default settings in you new BIOS. So you are on your own after that. ============================================ How to get to a command prompt: http://www.emachine-upgraders.info/dir1/support/command_prompt.shtml
