List assembled and maintained by King V

Many many thanks to the various members who post to the forums of K6 Plus! as well as AMD Zone for their input, without whom this list would NOT be possible.

In particular, Gizmic and Theory240, from whose work a good portion of this list came in the beginning.
Special thanks to Jan Steunebrink for creating the various patched BIOSes to work on some of the motherboards that might not otherwise correctly support the K6 mobile processors. See: The Unofficial AMD K6-2+ / K6-III+ page

You can generally assume that later revisions of the board or later BIOS versions than shown will work, unless otherwise noted.

K6-2+/K6-III+ CPU Motherboard Compatibility List

Last updated: 8/17/2001 by King V
NEW!!! OEM system compatibility list! Located below the motherboard list.
EVEN NEWER!! Laptop compatibility list! Located below the OEM system list.
Form Factor
Note that "Baby AT+ATX" indicates a Baby AT board that also has an ATX type connector.
Chipset
I believe that Sis 530 is the same as SiS 530+5595, i.e.: all 530s use a 5595 as well.
Max FSB
Maximum supported Front Side Bus setting in MHz. Note that if there are two numbers separated by a slash, the first is the maximum officially supported FSB, and the latter is a higher speed known to exist but not documented, and therefore not absolutely guaranteed to work in all cases. Furthermore, most FSB settings over 100MHz on Super 7 boards are not guaranteed, success at using them is questionable, and may require additional steps such as disabling on-board cache, even if the speed is officially listed in the manual.
Board Rev
Earliest Known revision of this motherboard that supports the K6 mobile CPUs as stated. Note that if there are major differences in how different revisions of the board support the CPU, they will be listed separately (example: the BCM VP1541)
BIOS Req'd
Earliest Known version of the BIOS that will work correctly with this board for mobile K6 CPU support.
Wrong POST
If the system in the POST screen seriosly misidentifies the CPU, a Y will be marked here. This is for example if the system calls a K6-III+ a 486, or say a "-MMX", or something equally strange. If the system merely omits the + sign, or shows the wrong speed (regardless of whether the system actually runs at the correct speed), then this column will be marked N. That is, this is to make sure the general TYPE of CPU is correct.
Clk Util Req'd
If the board for some reason will not allow you to set the processor its correct speed, and a software utility is needed to set the clock speed of the CPU properly, this column will be marked Y. (ie: a K6-III+ 450 CPU will only run at 350 at most despite having the correct jumper settings)
Feat Util Req'd
This column will be marked Y if separate software is needed to correctly set up the features of the processor, such as Write Allocation, and Speculative Write Ordering settings.

Only compatible if clock generator (near the AGP slot) has number 82ICS9248-131. A user has reported that the ICS 9248BF-131 clock generator will also work with the + procs. Perhaps they're the same, perhaps the former is needed for 97MHz bus speed compatibility.
Version 2.0 reported to work with these processors as well, but unknown whether the Feature utility would be needed.
5182 ALi Aladdin V Micro ATX   1.0 1.4 Y N Y Can't enable L2 cache in BIOS, must use cacheonw.exe. Some issues have been reported whereby going into the BIOS (even making no changes) "kills" the L2 cache, which seems to be cured by putting in a K6-2, booting, shutting down, then putting a K6-III+ back in.

If marked Y, then this system does not support the voltage required for the mobile K6 processors, and a voltage converter such as Powerleap's adapter or a similar device, is required.
