Delhi-3 Modified Bios Flash Procedure DELHI-III PATCHED BIOS FOR AMD K6+ CPUs ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS The emachines Upgraders Group's Founder, Moderators and Members express their warm thanks to "JAN STEUNEBRINK" who developed a successful patch for the Delhi-III bios which now allows AMD K6+ CPUs and the internal cache to be recognized without using the former "cacheon" method. Thanks also go to the following people for their contribution to this challenging work: "TJ seven", who provided the contact/connection with Jan Steunebrink. "Cpg23c", who provided the easy, convenient and quick way to flash the bios. "Bernard78170", who performed the testing of the new patched bios on the 333cs machine. ====================================================== PROCEDURE FOR INSTALLING THE MODIFIED DELHI-III BIOS 1) Download and unzip file E120_j1.zip and unzip the contents of this file to a floppy. 2) Turn OFF the computer and remove the old CPU. 3) Adjust the jumpers and switches to match the required voltages, FSB (100) and desired CPU multiplier. Check this step twice; do not blow-up your CPU with a bad voltage! 4) Install your K6+ CPU, and the original heatsink with some thermal paste. 5) Insert the diskette in the machine, hold down CTRL+HOME while turning ON the machine. 6) Release CTRL+HOME after hearing the first beep. You will hear a series of 4 beeps, then 2 beeps. The emachines splash screen will show up, and the boot screen will stop and display that the flash is successful. You will be asked to press F1 or F2 to access the setup menu or continue. At this point, you can remove the diskette (otherwise the system will stop again with an "invalid system disk" message). 7) Let the system load Windows completely. You can always go back to the bios setup and readjust your preferences if necessary. 8) Voilą! You are done. Congratulations. MISCELLANEOUS As an example, I am providing my results based on my K6-2+/475 running at 500 (100x5.0). Yours may be different if your CPU/FSB/Multiplier settings are different. > My CPU voltage: 2.0 V / Multiplier: x 5.0 > My FSB bandwidth: 100 > My switches and jumpers: SW1 / SW2 / SW3 / SW4 = Off / Off / Off / Off. J15 = 2-3 (no change). J2 / J9 / J3 / J4 / J5 = 1-2 / 2-3 / 1-2 / 1-2 / 1-2. J11 / J12 / J13 = 1-2 / 2-3 / 2-3. > My boot screen: AMIBIOS (C) 1999 American Megatrends Inc.,Version 1.20 - patch J.1 04/04/03 AMD-K6(tm)-3/450,450MHz Checking NVRAM.. Update OK!
