It resolves issues with the incorrect amount of RAM being detected. Identification This BIOS update is for the eMachines T6000 computer with an MS-6741 motherboard. Installation Prepare your computer Before updating your computer's BIOS, enter the current BIOS Setup Utility, and then write down each of the current settings in the event that this information is needed again after the upgrade. Note: The following instructions may vary dependent upon the operating system loaded on the computer. Performing the update 1. After you have downloaded and double-clicked the BIOS update file (T6000BIOS.exe), the needed files self-extract and copy into the C:\Cabs\T6000BIOS folder on the hard drive. 2. From the Start menu, click My Computer. 3. In the My Computer window, double-click C:, and then double-click the Cabs folder. If you cannot see any files, click View the entire contents of the drive. 4. In the Cabs folder, double-click the T6000BIOS folder. 5. From the Tools menu, click Folder Options. 6. In the Folder Options dialog box, click the View tab. 7. On the View tab, under Advanced settings, click Show hidden files and folders. Also, verify that the Hide protected operating system files (Recommended) check box is not selected. 8. In the Warning dialog box, click Yes. 9. In the Folder Options dialog box, click OK. 10. In the T6000BIOS folder, from the Edit menu, click Select All. 11. In the T6000BIOS folder, from the Edit menu, click Copy. 12. Quit all open programs, and then close all open windows. 13. Place a blank, formatted MS-DOS startup disk in the floppy disk drive. 14. From the Start menu, click My Computer. 15. In the My Computer window, double-click A:. 16. In the A: folder, from the Edit menu, click Paste. Performing the Update 1. From the Start menu, click Shut Down. In the Shut Down Windows dialog box, click Restart, and then click Yes. Leave the disk in the floppy disk drive while the computer restarts. 2. The computer starts to the disk. At the A:\> prompt, type: CD\A6741V~1. Press the ENTER key. 3. At the A:\A6741V~1> prompt, type: ADSFI716 A6741VE7.144. Press ENTER. 4. The BIOS updates. When complete, a "Flash Complete ......." message appears. Remove the disk and turn off the computer. 5. Turn on the computer and enter the BIOS by pressing the F1 key. Set the correct settings for the date, time, and so forth, and then select Save settings and restart. 6. The BIOS update is complete. Removal A motherboard must have a BIOS to operate, therefore there is no removal procedure. Troubleshooting If you have difficulty installing this file, download the file again, and then perform the installation steps.
