Emachine T5274

3.14.2009

Cpu: Intel E8400 Core 2 Duo @ 3.0ghz/core and 6mb cache
Ram: Samsung DDR2 pc5300 2x2gig
PSU: Antec 500w
Graphics: ATI 4850 512mb OC edition
Sound: On board
Hard Drive: WD 320gig 7200rpm SATA
Optical Drives: HP DVD RW w/Lightscribe, Optiarc DVD RW

I have now completed my complete upgrades on my system thought I would share my experience. The T5274 has an Ecs 945gct-m3 Motherboard which can handle any 800mhz FSB 65nm Intel cpu (Verified by Emachine). That was not good enough for me and having Windows Vista (OEM) leaves me with a HUGE problem....How to replace the motherboard and not have to buy another product Key to re-activate windows...
Those of us with this model have an option: Ecs 945gct-m/1333 $55 average and will support up to an E8600 and 4gigs of Ram. I took the plunge and installed the MB and an E8400 and all looked good...a few days later I noticed in the system it said I had 12 more day to activate windows....I entered the original key and windows took it!!! Two weeks later and still no problems.
