Powerleap PL-iP3/T 1400C
on the Napoli-2
Plenty of bang for your
buck.
Test system:
eMonster 550, 160Mb
generic SDRAM 100Mhz, Voodoo5 5500, 200W PSU,
Win98SE
This is one easy
upgrade! Go to the Napoli-2 download section
and get either napoli2_1.zip or
napoli2_2.zip. Read the "readme" to
determine which one you need. Read the "readme"
for the na2_113s.zip file to see how to
flash.....the principle is the same. After
you flash you might want to make sure you
were successful and reboot and make sure you
can make it back to your desktop. If so,
you're half way there. Shut down, unplug old
CPU, plug in Powerleap CPU, connect power
lead and then power the system on. The POST
screen will only show 1000Mhz, but don't
worry as you will see, you are running at
1.4Ghz.
As you
can see below WCPUID accurately reports the
correct speed. In this screen shot I have
bumped the FSB to 103Mhz which is an option
in the CMOS settings.

Sandra
also reports the correct speed.

Check out Sandra's benchmark
scores.

PCPitstop incorrectly reports
the wrong CPU speed but the scores tell the
tale.

Don't you just hate when you
install a piece of hardware that is suppose
to speed up your rig, but you can't tell a
bit of difference? Well this is definitely
NOT the case here. This Powerleap PL-iP3/2
1400C took the place of a 1.0Ghz P-3. As you
can see by the numbers, there is a
definite 60% increase! All apps boot up
faster...stable as a rock. As Rainman would
say, "Definitely worth it...definitely! |
